1. A maid witnesses the murder of Sir Carew by Mr. Hyde after a friendly greeting by Sir Carew. Mr. Utterson accompanies the police to the Mr. Hyde's apartment and finds out that he is missing, however discovers the remains of the cane used to kill Sir Carew as well as the burned checkbook. They wait for Mr. Hyde to show up at the bank to either withdraw or deposit however Mr. Hyde never shows up and seems to have nearly no acquaintances.

2. The most significant revelation and events in the chapter was the murder by and the dissapearance of Mr. Hyde as well as the discovery of the cane and the burned checkbook. It clearly shows that Mr. Hyde was the murderer and allows the readers to anticipate what is going to happen.

3. The murder is witnessed by the maid. The rest of the chapter is in Mr. Utterson's point of view.
